Notary Services

The Clarkston Independence District Library offers free Notary services to Clarkston and Independence Township residents. Notary Services are available to non-residents for a fee of $10.00. While we do make an effort to have a notary in the building as much as possible, please call ahead for availability or to make an appointment: (248) 625-2212.

What to Bring

• Completed unsigned document(s). All documents must be signed in the presence of the notary.

• A valid photo ID with signature for all persons seeking service

What to Expect

• Notaries are subject to Michigan's State Notary regulations.

• Individuals are responsible for understanding their documents and identifying where signatures are needed.

• Notaries cannot prepare documents or give legal advice. Legal help available at michiganlegalhelp.org.

Library notary staff CANNOT notarize the following:

• Real Estate Transactions: Mortgages, Deeds, Closing Documents, etc.

• I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification forms

• Michigan Vital Records: Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce

• Documents written in a language other than English

• Documents requiring a Medallion signature guarantee stamp
